Welcome to the “Women Driving Circularity” series, part 3. In this part, we feature the inspiring story of Ms. Tran Thi Nhu Hoa.
Hoa Nhu garment workshop is a small garment business, founded in 2016 and based in Vinh city, Nghe An. The enterprise is specialized in tailoring and designing female fashion, especially women aged 20-35. Also, the workshop makes other goods, such as beermat, from the excessed fabrics. With this model, the business can use up to the full of materials, at the same time create an exquisite and useful product.
According to Ms. Hoa, the founding of the workshop comes from livelihood needs. Eventually, it has grown into a personal passion. At the moment, besides the workshop, her business also has a showroom. Ms. Hoa has not only brought a living out of her passion but also sent help to other women, helping them with vocational training. Furthermore, four of the nine workers are people of disability.
As an environmental protection enthusiast, Hoa registered to join the CE Bootcamp as soon as she heard the news. Coming to the training, she expected to be more aware and able to apply the Circular model to business. After the training, Ms. Hoa confessed that she wanted to position her business towards the circular economy. Soon, she looks forward to promoting recycling and reusing leftover fabrics, to improve the commodities even further.
The recent International Women’s Day brings some good news to Ms. Hoa. The workshop has received an order from Unilever to make 200 bags from waste fabrics. Almost immediately, Ms. Hoa and her colleagues feel excited by such a valuable product from the waste fabrics. At the same time, they can receive a supplemented income.
