Recyle One: Finalist of the “Finding green creative startup talents”

On the afternoon of November 28, the final round of the competition “Finding green creative startup talents” was officially held at the Building of the Science and Technology Information Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City.

With the desire to find potential and creative projects from students as well as startups, and at the same time promote the startup movement in Vietnam and towards the goal of reducing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions per GDP; greening economic sectors; greening lifestyles and promoting sustainable consumption, with support from UNDP and the Vietnam Circular Economy Hub, the National Innovative Startup Support Center (NSSC) in collaboration with the Circular Economy Village this week completed the contest “Finding green creative startup talent” with the message “Sharing knowledge – Inspiring creativity – Sustainable development”.

The contest “Finding for green creative startup talent” is an activity in the TECHFEST Vietnam 2022 series of events, targeting 2 main areas: promoting circular economy and reducing plastic waste pollution, as a solution to reduce ocean plastic pollution

The contest is organized with the desire to create an environment for exchanges, meetings and direct exchanges between the teams with experts in the field of business and entrepreneurship, thereby helping to complete and realize the project.

After two rounds of competition including Preliminary and Semi-Final, the organizers chose 6 excellent teams to advance to the Final Round, of which 3 are student projects and 3 are business groups.

Speaking at the final of the contest, Mr. Nguyen Francis Tuan Anh – Head of Circular Economy Village – Head of the Competition Organizing Committee said: “Circular economy is an extremely difficult problem that currently affects not only Vietnam but also the world. Faced with the challenges of environmental pollution and waste, climate change along with the increasing trend of greenhouse gases, the exhausting exploitation of natural resources, countries around the world, including Vietnam, have made commitments with concrete results and actions to gradually transition to green and sustainable economic models”. 

Organizing the contest “Finding talent for green creative startups” is also a practical activity to spread the message, strengthen capacity, raise awareness and promote innovative and creative models of circular economy, promoting cooperation opportunities between enterprises to green the flow of raw materials, and at the same time expand access to domestic and international markets.

As a strategic partner for the contest “Finding talent for green creative startups” Ms. Hoang Thi Dieu Linh – representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) shared: “In the past time, UNDP has been supporting the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Natural Resources and Environment elaborates the circular economy content in Decree No. 08/2022 guiding the implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, including contents on criteria, roadmap and mechanism to encourage economic development. circulatory economy. Following the Decree, it is expected that the National Action Plan for the implementation of the circular economy will be developed and promulgated. At the local level, UNDP has coordinated with focal units to develop the Circular Economy Implementation Plan at the provincial level, such as in Da Nang, Hue and Binh Dinh.”

It can be seen that the issues of the environment and the circular economy are being paid great attention by the government and there are specific documents to promote the circular economy.

The final round of the contest took place successfully with the participation of more than 100 spectators participating live and online. With fresh ideas and high market potential combined with good presentation and question-answering skills, the team…. surpassed the remaining teams to win the championship of the contest “Finding green creative startup talents” 2022. The prize for the champion of the contest is 50 million in cash. In addition, the top 3 student teams each received a prize of 10 million VND in cash.

The contest is the bridge to help start-up ideas get closer to reality. Receive dedicated consulting support from a team of advisors and experts in the program to help projects become more complete, innovative and creative. In addition, the projects also have the opportunity to approach potential partners and large investment funds that have attended the program. Hopefully in the future, the values ​​of the “Finding green creative startup talents” contest 2022 brought to the teams will be effective to help projects and businesses develop strongly.

The contest ended with the victory belonging to the Recycle One team with the project R One recycling machine using artificial intelligence (AI) to help collect and sort recyclables such as plastic bottles, aluminum cans, etc. milk bottle, etc.

In addition, Hoang Mai Clean Agriculture Co., Ltd. The project to produce Tealight candle shells with sea grape leaves, moca palm replacing the aluminum-zinc candle shell has provided a new solution, replacing raw materials. Candle making material is extremely friendly to the environment. Besides, this is also an opportunity to develop sea vine material areas, contributing to soil preservation, windbreak and coastal community protection. The last team in the top 3 of the Green life Ha Long contest is an initiative with the aim of raising awareness about plastic waste, especially billboards, and spreading the message of environmental protection to all parts of the country. Green life Ha Long produces and sells recycled friendly Pano products such as Handbags, document bags, lunch box bags, pen boxes, coasters, boards of all kinds … connecting groups, clubs, A youth organization taking action for the environment across the country, based on the idea of ​​​​building a green ecosystem, to spread the message “make pano great again”.
