- Policy Updates: The Vietnamese government has approved a scheme to promote a CE in agriculture through science and technology via Decision 540/QD-TTg dated June 19, 2024, aiming to foster research and the application of advanced technologies for a greener agricultural sector.
- News:
- Enhancing international cooperation and multisectoral coordination on CE in agriculture: The policy dialogue conference aimed to promote the circular economy in agriculture for climate goals through multilateral international cooperation and multisectoral coordination
- Responsible Sourcing Initiative reaches first milestone in Viet Nam: UNDP and TCI organized a kickoff workshop for the Responsible Supply Initiative, focused on improving the working conditions of informal workers in the recycling industry.
- Application of tools and indicators to measure the implementation of the CE: ISPONRE and Hanns Seidel Foundation co-hosted a workshop to support research and identify appropriate measures and tools for measuring and evaluating the implementation of CE practices in accordance with Vietnamese law.
- A model for collecting plastic waste on fishing boats to shore: As part of a UNDP-funded project for 2022-2024, Binh Dinh province has implemented the “Fishing vessels bringing onboard plastic waste back to shore” model since late 2023
- Community Initiatives: The newsletter features inspiring stories from the community, such as the “Plastic Rehab Camp” project aimed at reducing single-use plastics, the success of N850 FishTale – a swimwear fabric made from recycled materials and ocean plastic waste or a recyclable mono-PE coffee bag by Siegwerk & DG press with enhanced oxygen barriers, potentially benefiting Viet Nam’s coffee packaging industry.
