Hanoi students spread environmental protection and reduce plastic waste

Anti Plastic Day is one of the key activities of the Generation Hope Campaign – theme For a green environment. The event was organized by the core group Generation of Hope Campaign – whose members are students studying at Phan Dinh Phung High School (Hanoi). The program aims to propagate the reduction of plastic waste in the community, as well as give young people a comprehensive perspective on environmental issues in general and the use of plastic waste in particular.

Anti-Plastic Day is organized in the form of an open festival for everyone to participate with camps, along with many attractive and interesting activities, conveying a clear message to reduce plastic waste not only in school environment but also in the community at large.

Young people can participate in many exciting and meaningful activities at the camp, such as “Giving green shoots”, through collecting plastic waste for recycling. “Crafts or Crafts” is a booth with recycled items so people can unleash their creativity, transforming seemingly useless things into beautiful items. From there, promote and propagate people to know more about “recycling”, helping to beautify the landscape and reduce the amount of non-degradable waste.

The “Green Wishes” booth creates a playground to help people create from environmentally friendly materials and recyclable plastic items, thereby helping people get into the habit of recycling and stimulating creativity, aiming to take action to protect the environment.

In addition, the camp also has snack stalls serving food and drinks with environmentally friendly products.

Representing the core force, Tran Hoang Van Anh – Head of the Anti Plastic Day Content Committee shared that, thanks to the support from the Youth Media Center of the Central Youth Union, through training sessions, the group was able to Opportunity to be creative, come up with ideas as well as implement communication plans, raise awareness of environmental protection.

“We hope that through Anti Plastic Day, the camp can spread the message of green living to not only the student community but also the wider community. We hope everyone will join hands to reduce single-use plastic waste, contributing to creating a green – clean – beautiful environment,” Van Anh said.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy Duong – Director of Strategy, Effectiveness and Program Quality of SCI Children’s Aid Organization – co-organizer of the Generation Hope Campaign highly appreciates and looks forward to the Anti Plastic Day event. Ms. Duong believes that this is a concrete demonstration of supporting and empowering children in meaningful activities that have a profound impact on the lives of young people.
