Promoting innovation towards actualizing the circular economy in Viet Nam

Encouraging circular economy development to effectively use the output of the production process is one of the tasks outlined in the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy 2021-2030 and many other related resolutions of the Central Government in order to implement orientations on management, efficient use of natural resources, environmental protection and response to climate change, contributing to the implementation of the policy of rapid and sustainable development of the country. The Law on Environmental Protection 2020 provides for the first time the circular economy (Article 142), the Government’s Decree No. 08/2022/ND-CP dated January 10, 2022 detailing a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection has specified criteria, roadmap and mechanism to encourage circular economy development (Articles 138, Article 139 and Article 140).

With the aim of enhancing academic and practical exchange, and providing a forum for national and international scholars, experts, agencies and organizations to discuss on the scientific basis, international experience and practice in Vietnam on the application of circular economy, the Institute of Strategy and Policy on natural resources and environment in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation organized a workshop with the theme “Promoting innovation towards actualizingthe  circular economy in Viet Nam”.
