I. Background:

Thua Thien Hue Province is located in central Vietnam, along the East Sea coast. With a population of over 1.2 million people. The economy of Thua Thien Hue province is rapidly developing. The province’s GDP has grown at an annual rate of 7.7% on average over the last decade. The government of Thua Thien Hue has made significant investments in the province’s infrastructure, including major roads and transportation networks, as well as energy and technology projects. Thua Thien Hue province has a rich cultural heritage in addition to strong economic growth.

The provincial government has taken actions to ensure the sustainable growth of Thua Thien Hue’s economy. According to the cooperation implementation plan between Thua Thien Hue province and UNDP in the period of 2022-2023, No. 295/KH-UBND signed on August 12, 2022 with the aim of implementing the content of cooperation signed between the Provincial People’s Committee and the Program United Nations Development (UNDP) comprehensively and focused on strategic issues of Thua Thien Hue in terms of construction and development in the coming time according to Resolution No. 54-NQ/TW of the Politburo and other relevant agencies United Nations millennium development goals. Raised the issue of developing a circular economy network in Thua Thien Hue and connecting with the national circular economy system in order to implement the Prime Minister’s Decision No.687/QD-TTg on Circular Economy Development complete in Vietnam.

The metabolic analysis is one of the first steps to implementing the circular economy transformation. The research aims to conduct a metamorphic analysis of material and resource flows in Thua Thien Hue province to serve as a basis for the development of a Circular Economy Roadmap and identify a list of high-potential interventions to realize circular economy opportunities. To do that requires coordination and consensus of relevant local agencies in the selection of interventions that need to be prioritized in the province. That is the reason for the workshop “DISCUSS PRIORITY INTERVENTIONS TO PROMOTE CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN THUA THIEN HUE”

II. Objectives:

– Presenting the results of Metabolic analysis up to the present time in Thua Thien Hue

– Discuss and identify 10 priority interventions to promote a circular economy in Thua Thien Hue province
