Students protect the environment, raise funds from ‘Recyclers’

The “Recycling House” model has helped students at Nguyen Khuyen Primary and Secondary School (Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province) form habits and awareness of green environmental protection.

Students make models and useful items from recycled materials

“Recycled house” is made of stainless steel frame, corrugated iron roof, surrounded by sturdy mesh, beautifully decorated and divided into 3 compartments, in front of each compartment there is an opening with the instruction: shell cans, scrap paper, and plastic bottles so students can easily classify waste.

This house is located in a corner in front of the school yard, convenient for students to easily put away their trash.

The recycling house model helps students become aware of protecting the green environment

“Recycled house” was implemented at the beginning of the 2022 school year, through the model of forming self-discipline habits for the school’s students. Every recess or after school, when walking around school and encountering any kind of trash, the children pick it up and put it in the correct designated area.

In each classroom, the school arranges trash bins carrying practical and meaningful propaganda messages. Help students put away trash and classify each type of waste. After each class, classes will take their trash to the school’s “Recycling House”.

The school organizes instructions for students to classify waste, including: plastic waste, waste paper, organic waste…. helping students know how to classify waste, limit plastic waste, and dispose of waste. trash in the right place. In addition, these types of scraps are also utilized in technology classes and extracurriculars. Students will be guided by teachers in making models and cute decorative items.

Through the skillful hands of students, cardboard and milk carton straws are transformed into friendly house models that appear with vivid, beautiful designs. Plastic bottles are turned into beautiful lanterns and plant pots by the children.

According to Ms. Trang, from daily waste collection, the Union summarizes the results periodically, sells them to raise funds to carry out the movement and the Team’s activities. “Recycled house” is a form of encouraging students to classify and collect waste very effectively, contributing to educating students about saving awareness, love of labor, and responsibility to the community regarding environmental protection. The model is spreading throughout the federation, contributing to building green, clean, beautiful, and civilized schools.

After more than 1 year of implementation, the model brings very positive meaning, thereby educating students about behavior, attitudes, and habits of preserving and protecting the environment. From there, good personalities and a civilized and cultural lifestyle are formed for the young generation right from the smallest school level.
