iBAG

iBAG, a brand in Vietnam belonging to HRK Group (an importer and exporter of environmentally friendly packaging solutions) specializes in producing packaging made from tapioca starch and biopolymer – completely biodegradable or water soluble. iBAG strives to fight the problem of plastic pollution by producing sustainable packaging (storage bags, polybags, trash bags, vacuum bags, etc.). The business provides an upstream solution – creating no waste during production and processing. These products decompose quickly and safely in landfills and marine environments, help protect animal health, and do not create chemical pollution or microplastics that poison the soil environment.

iBAG uses several circular business practices such as reusing materials and recovering natural resources used in manufacturing processes. Additionally, some HRK products also use waste as a local resource, such as containers made from sugarcane bagasse.

To date, iBAG’s greatest achievement has been the development of a material that encompasses virtually every end-of-life alternative, including being biodegradable, being used as a fertilizer, being recyclable, water soluble and even edible. The business has successfully provided products to many large customers in Vietnam and around the world, with an estimated 8.5 million environmentally friendly packaging produced and more than 785,500 kg of plastic waste replaced. The toughest challenge for iBAG is convincing consumers to spend more on packaging to protect the future of the next generations from severe plastic pollution and climate change.
