Consultation workshop “The outline of national action plan and key sectors for implementing the circular economy”

The circular economy (CE) is an alternative economic development approach to the previous linear economic approach. Since 2020, the concept of CE has been specifically regulated by the Government of Vietnam in the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 (Law on Environmental Protection 2020) (Article 142) and in Decree No. 08/2022/ND-CP detailing a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020. In compliance with Article 139 of Decree No. 08/2022/ND-CP, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is assigned to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and People’s Committees of The provincial level shall develop and submit to the Prime Minister for promulgation the National Action Plan for CE implementation before December 31, 2023. The Institute of Strategy and Policy on natural resources and environment (ISPONRE) is assigned by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to take prime responsibility and coordinate with relevant units to perform this task.

To have a basis to develop and complete the National Action Plan for CE implementation, ISPONRE cooperated with the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Vietnam to organize a workshop “The outline of national action plan and key sectors for implementing the circular economy”.
