PROCESS OF PRODUCING ORGANIC FERTILIZER FROM STRAW WASTE AFTER MUSHROOM CULTIVATION APPLYING MECHANIZATION

Every year, only around 30% of the total 30 million tons of rice straw produced after rice harvest in the Mekong Delta region is reused effectively. The remaining 70% is burned or buried in the field, resulting in numerous environmental issues like increased greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.

The project component on strengthening rice straw management is implemented by the Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food Sector (GIC) Project in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the Departments of Agriculture & Rural Development of provinces in the project area. This leaflet was developed within the framework of the above component based on the technical guidelines of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and IRRI. It provides basic and concise information on producing organic fertilizer from straw waste after mushroom cultivation applying mechanization. It is suitable for use in relevant training of cooperatives and farmers.
