In the context of the forthcoming enforcement of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy starting in 2024, producers and importers of batteries, lubricating oils, inner tubes, tires, and certain products with packaging will be mandated to recycle their products themselves or through a designated third party, known as a Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO). International experience has demonstrated that PROs play a pivotal role in enhancing the effectiveness of EPR implementation by substantially reducing the cost and logistical challenges associated with managing packaging waste.
As such, the webinar will showcase operational models of PROs from countries in Asia and Europe that have accumulated significant expertise in EPR implementation. It aims to provide an overview of the preparations made by businesses to comply with upcoming recycling and waste treatment obligations while offering effective EPR implementation recommendations tailored to Viet Nam.
The webinar will answer these questions:
- What role does PRO play in the EPR implementation process?
- How has the PRO system in other countries developed to promote the effectiveness of EPR?
- How prepared are businesses to meet the targets for packaging when EPR is implemented in 2024?
