Workshop: Lessons Learned from Pilot Projects Working with Women Informal Waste Workers in Viet Nam

1. Objectives of the Workshop

Co-hosted by UNDP Viet Nam and the EU-BMZ’ Rethinking Plastics’ project, the workshop invites participants to deepen their understanding of the roles and contributions of informal waste workers in the waste management value chains share their experience. Therefore, the objectives of the workshop are twofold:

  • To share lessons learned from different pilot projects in Viet Nam that aim at strengthening the livelihoods of informal waste workers and support their recognition and/or inclusion into the waste management systems.
  • Collectively discuss and suggest mechanisms to enhance (i) the systematic collection of grassroots initiatives and strengthen their uptake at the policy level, and (ii) the collaboration with other organisations to achieve systemic change.

 

2. Agenda 

The event will be divided into two sessions, the morning will be dedicated to field visits, while the afternoon will showcase the experiences of different organisations in Viet Nam.
