Vietnam responds to “Clean up the world” campaign in 2021

In 2021, the national launching ceremony in response to the campaign “Clean up the World” is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee.

The launching ceremony took place in the context of the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, so it was held online. In addition to the main event, chaired by the Leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Mr. Ngo Van Cuong – Secretary of the Central Committee of the Union, there are 10 side events in 5 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Thai Binh, Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa, and Quang Nam. The event was also accompanied by international organizations.

At the launching ceremony, the leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment requested all levels, sectors, mass organizations, units, businesses and the community to join hands to act in practical activities to protect the environment such as: strictly control the collection, transportation and treatment of wastes generated in the locality, especially domestic waste and medical waste generated by the Covid-19 pandemic in accordance with regulations; focus on thoroughly solving environmental pollution problems affecting people’s lives and health…

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in order to respond effectively, it is necessary to promote propaganda and dissemination of legal provisions on environmental protection under the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 in appropriate forms to all localities, organizations, businesses and people in the area to understand and implement; integrate and promote circular economy models, green economy in the construction and implementation of socio-economic development in the locality.

Specifically, media agencies, newspapers, radio and television stations should increase the amount of time to report, articles, reportage, special pages, columns, and multimedia products on environmental protection activities for people to easily access and implement; special attention is paid to propagating key contents under the guidance of MONRE in response to the Campaign nationwide.

Outstanding activities and dissemination of effective environmental protection models and solutions were introduced to the people, thereby promptly encouraging, praising and rewarding collectives, businesses and individuals who have typical achievements in rational use of resources, practical and effective management, solutions and initiatives in environmental protection.

According to Secretary Ngo Van Cuong, a number of activities will be immediately implemented by the Central Youth Union, such as: directing the implementation of the 4th National Green Sunday in 2021 on September 19 nationwide; Deploying 3 youth tree routes at the central level in Bac Giang, Thai Binh and Hanoi provinces; Deploying the “Livelihood Garden” in Quang Nam to build a green lifestyle, stabilize economic development, create landscapes and protect the environment, respond to climate change, towards the goal of planting 1 billion trees that the Prime Minister has launched; In collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held the summary and awarding of the “Youth Creative for Climate” Contest. Launching the program “Clean up – live green” on the social networking platform facebook from September 21 to September 30.
