UNDP launch podcast ‘Descendants of Hai Ba Trung’

Ha Noi, 19 October 2022 –  UNDP launched its first-ever podcast ‘Descendants of Hai Ba Trung’, featuring voices from the frontline of the climate crisis. Carefully curated, each episode showcases the journey of women from all backgrounds sharing their experiences in mobilizing their communities and taking action in agriculture, disaster risk reduction, circular economy, etc; to adapt and mitigate climate change. The podcast is expected to inspire women and ensure that women’s voices are not ‘left behind’ but heard at all levels.

In the first of these episodes, we reveal to you the stories of various women’s innovations. Ms. Ngo Anh Dao’s efforts to stop soil erosion caused by annual storms and flooding in Triem Tay hamlet and Cam Kim commune, Hoi An, Quang Nam province. How Chau Thi Xeo, a Cham ethnic woman in the southern central province of Ninh Thuan, developed a unique method for cultivating asparagus on the sandy, semi-desert soil. It is the story of Trinh Thi Hong, a local pioneer in Da Nang, who transforms food waste into detergents, giving more than 400 women jobs, financial independence, and new skills.

Along with many other trailblazing women, they are bringing about constructive change to address the climate issue and strengthen ecological and community resilience.
