Today, UNDP Viet Nam, with support from the Government of the Netherlands, together with the Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering (IESE), Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, and DEEP C Industrial Zones, launched the Technical Guideline on Industrial Wastewater and Sludge Reuse under the Accelerating Circular Economy for Businesses (ACE-Biz) project. The event also shared lessons learned from the pilot project and the feasibility study for a 1,000 m³/day treated wastewater reuse system at DEEP C Industrial Zone in Hai Phong.
Ms. Fleur Gribnau, First Secretary for Economic Affairs, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, noted: “Reduce and reuse are not just environmental slogans – they are a form of economic resilience. Every cubic meter of water reused today is one less risk for business tomorrow.”
Mr. Ho Kien Trung, Deputy Director General of the Environment Agency, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, said: “The Environment Agency will continue to work closely with the business community, ministries, local authorities, and partners to further develop technical guidance, address implementation challenges, and create an enabling environment for more circular economy projects to emerge and grow.”
Mr. Vu Thai Truong, Head of Climate Change, Energy and Environment, UNDP Viet Nam, said: “When water is circulated and used more efficiently, we not only reduce pressure on water resources but also strengthen climate resilience, advance the circular economy, and enhance the competitiveness of businesses.”
UNDP will continue working with the Government, the business community, and partners to advance wastewater reuse solutions, contributing to a circular economy and a more sustainable future.
