Training on Access to Circular Economy Finance

Location: Saigon Prince Hotel, 63 Nguyen Hue, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City   

Time: Two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 1-2, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day. 

Organizers: GIZ and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.   

Host: Representatives from the Department of Finance and Banking (Ministry of Finance) and the GIZ’s Go Circular Project.

Target Audience: Business owners, finance directors, or decision-making personnel from SMEs that are currently applying or planning to adopt circular economy models, with basic knowledge of corporate finance and circular economy principles.

Content  

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, is organizing a training course on accessing finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) implementing circular economy business models in Vietnam. This initiative is part of the “Promotion of Circular Economy for Climate and Environmental Protection in the Marine Regions of Vietnam” (Go Circular) project.  

Training Objectives:

The training aims to provide participants with:

  • Knowledge of the financial needs of SMEs implementing circular economy models.   
  • Skills to identify suitable financial services, develop business plans, and successfully access capital from various sources.  
  • Understanding of how to apply knowledge of financial access methods to promote sustainable business growth through securing funding for circular economy initiatives.

 

Training Program (Tentative):

Day 1 (April 1, 2025):  

  • 08:30-08:45: Welcome and Introduction
  • 08:45-10:00: Part 1: Financial Market and Challenges for CE SMEs in Vietnam
  • 10:00-10:15: Break
  • 10:15-12:00: Part 2: Identifying the financial needs of CE SMEs and linking with available financial resources for CE SMEs
  • 12:00-13:30: Lunch Break at the Hotel
  • 13:30-15:00: Part 3: Analysis and assessment of the financial health of CE SMEs
  • 15:00-15:15: Break
  • 15:15-16:00: Part 4: Identifying other development indicators (besides financial indicators) of CE SMEs
  • 16:00-17:00: Part 5: Access to Finance from commercial banks and financial leasing companies

 

Day 2 (April 2, 2025):    

  • 08:30-10:00: Part 5: Access to Finance from commercial banks and financial leasing companies (continued)
  • 10:00-10:15: Break
  • 10:15-12:00: Part 6: Access to Finance from investment funds
  • 12:00-13:30: Lunch Break at the Hotel  
  • 13:30-14:00: Part 7: Access to Finance from CE SMEs support funds   
  • 14:00-15:00: Part 8: Guidance on developing a Business Plan and Investor Pitching    
  • 15:00-15:15: Break  
  • 15:15-16:30: Part 8: Guidance on developing a Business Plan and Pitching (continued)
  • 16:30-17:00: Q&A and Wrap-up
