Some highlights:
- First province to issue regulation on plastic waste management in fisheries: Binh Dinh issued Decision 89/QD-SNN on February 28 to regulate plastic waste on fishing vessels, establishing a leadership position in plastic waste management from fishing activities.
- Joint initiative to upgrade agricultural circular businesses: UNDP and IWMI announced an initiative to assist small- and medium-scale farmers & enterprises in Can Tho, Dak Lak, and Son La with adopting CE models in coffee and rice value chains.
- The Responsible Sourcing Initiative: Uplifting informal waste workers in the plastics value chain: the Circulate Initiative and UNDP Viet Nam are collaborating with aggregators and recycling companies to implement the Responsible Sourcing Initiative to identify and invest in solutions that enhance the working conditions and livelihoods of informal waste workers.
- The National Assembly promulgates Water Resources Law No. 28/2023/QH15: Water Resources Law No. 28/2023/QH15 was passed on November 27, 2023. This event marks a huge step forward in legal ideas, approaches, and changes in water resource management methods.
- Decision No. 262/QD-TTg: Implementation strategy for new power development plan: The country’s Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8) has been approved, setting out national total waste-to-energy power at 1,182MW, and additional rooftop solar power at 2,600MW.
- WCEF 2024 hits Brussels on 15-18 April 2024: The world’s leading event for CE thinkers, doers, and leaders will take over Brussels in April 2024, with online participation open to everyone.
- Deinking – Are Design for Recycling Guidelines keeping up? A white paper underscores the need for guidelines to evolve with technological advancements in recycling, ensuring they reflect the most efficient routes to a circular packaging economy.
